Words From the Heart

Pursuit of Him

by Pastor Deon VanStaden

Sound the Alarm. What does that mean and why is it important? I believe that God is ready to move again upon His people, not just in revival but in reformation. The time has come for the church as a whole to wake up and realize that for too long we have lived lives that do not express the true nature of who God is.

Jesus came to show the Father and bring in a new concept of who God was. What He showed was so different from their own understanding of God that they missed the very visitation of God. Has our understanding of God been the same? You cannot define God without experience, because that leads to religion. God never wanted us to understand Him outside of experiencing Him. Our pursuit must be to engage Him (relationship) not to try and understand Him (religion).

The mind set of most Christians is still that God is unapproachable and they are still at the mountain telling Moses to go up and hear from God. God is passionate to pursue us in a relationship that speaks of experience and not just an idea.

It is hard to believe that a people under an inferior covenant had such a manifestation of God's presence. They saw His works daily and yet we under a better covenant are happy to live without that glory, and even greater things than this.

The alarm is sounding for the church to come up and see God face to face. In the Old Covenant the glory was veiled. In the New Covenant He has made Himself available through Jesus.
